The Nova Senior Gold swimmers traveled to go to the Terrapin meet and the Senior Silver swimmers to the Kevin Perry meet held at FAST in the month of November. All other swimmers attended the Novamber meet at Woollett. The travel meets were successful and fun reported the senior coaches. Congratulations to Coach Jeri Marshburn for receiving the USA Swimming Service Award sponsired by Phillips 66. The Outstanding Service Award was established in 1981 to recognize volunteers for their invaluable contribution to USA Swimming. Kevin Tu's performance in the 1000 Freestyle during the recent NOVA Intrasquad Meet earned him the distinction as the fastest 11-12 year boy in that event ever by a NOVA swimmer. His Team Record time of 10:10.77 surpassed teammate Hunter Hitchin’s time 0f 10:11.32 set earlier this year.

The October IMX Meet was a festive event with heat winners getting mini pumpkins to take home. Swimmers raced their hearts out to get pumpkins and their best possible IM Xtreme or IM Ready score for the short course season. Swimmers in the morning session were vying for IM Ready scores. IM Ready is the first step in USA Swimming's IM Challenge program. IM Ready consists of 5 shorter IM races. The Novaquatics Back to School Meet was held last weekend, September 21st-22nd. This meet is always interesting with unique events and many different goals from new and continuing Nova swimmers. While some swimmers attend hoping to drop time after not having swum short course yards in about 6 months, others hope to start the new season not too far off their season best after the August hiatus. Each year USA Swimming recognizes it's swimming members who achieve excellance, not only in the pool, but also in the classroom. Each swimmer must be in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA, and meet a minimum time standard. Kevin Tu posted several record breaking swims this past long course season. Kevin swam the 800 Free in a time of 9:24.33. His time bettered the NOVA team record set by Daryl Wang in 2010 (9:24.59) Kevin broke Gonny Shimura's 200 Back team record set in 1995. Tu swam a time of 2:18.54 Also, Kevin established a new Southern California record in the 400 Free with a time of 4:21.87. the SCS record was held by Matthew Lee (4:23.48). The NOVA team record was held by Aaron Peirsol (4:27.75)
