SCS Wins title with help from NOVA Swimmers
The 2014 edition of the Pacific Coast All-Star meet, a unique event that pits some of the best age-group swimmers from the four USA Swimming LSC’s that touch the Pacific Ocean: Southern California, Pacific Swimming, Oregon, and Pacific Northwest Swimming. The meet this year was held at Evergreen State College in a yards course.
In a meet that carries some amount of bragging rights, even with none of the LSC’s taking their absolute top squads to the meet, it was Southern California Swimming that emerged victorious, beating their nearest opponents Pacific Swimming (mostly northern California) by almost 200 points.

For Southern California, their 13-14 boys looked very strong. That included a win from 13-year old Hunter Hitchens from NOVA, in the men’s 100 free in 49.06, part of a weekend that saw him with 7 top-three finishes in 10 races over two days of competition. Joing Hunter in the 13-14 boys age-group was NOVA teammate Ethan Archer, who was part of a 1-2-3 finish for the SCS team in the 100 backstroke
Not to be out done, two 13-14 Novaquatics girls were also in attendance. Andrea Felix, finishing in scoring position in 5 of her six races. And Lauren Vitort scoring in the top 7 for each of her six races, one of which was a third place finish in the 200 freestlyle.
In the 11-12 boys’ age group, Kevin Tu from Southern California Swimming had some big performances. The Irvine Novaquatics swimmer, one of six from that team representing SCS at this meet, grabbed wins in the 100 free (50.71), 500 free (4:51.36), 50 back (26.74), and the 200 IM (2:04.04).
In the 11-12 girls, Samantha Pearson from the Novaquatics joined her teammates on the SCS All-Star team which included scoring positions in in 5 of her six races, including a 4th place finsih in the 100 freestyle.
